I got back to the San Francisco area on December 31st and now find myself trying to reflect on the past five months while also receiving the world at full speed. The numbers are straightforward at least. 15,823 miles in 139 days. … Continue reading Around The Final Bend

Crossing the Midwest

The Midwest is generally called “the flyover states” because they are flat, featureless, and mostly filled with corn. And while there is a lot of corn, there is quite a bit more. Both of my parents are from Iowa too, which gives me some excuses to stop and look around. But first we had to … Continue reading Crossing the Midwest

Catching Up Via Photo

Hello world, We won’t have time to get a post in this week. Last week’s post is already on this week’s feed, and I hoped to catch up by having two posts together. Sadly, we are entering the plains states and must make time as we cross along the Great Lakes and push for Upstate … Continue reading Catching Up Via Photo

Progress Update: The Sidecar and Supplies

We are officially inside one month until launch. Since I will be departing to do the Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis in late July, and the 2hearts1horizon trip starts as soon as I get back in mid-August, it means the bike needs to be ready, most of our gear needs procured, and I have to … Continue reading Progress Update: The Sidecar and Supplies

Sunsets in the desert are always dramatic, but when you find water in the desert things get even more surreal. Page, Arizona is such a place. #2h1hz
Our attempt over the Sierras was met with a lot of closed roads, but we still had it better than the Donner Party by a wide measure. Heater works, roads were easy to follow, and the truck is slightly better than a pack mule. #2h1hz
Got to meet the shop cat at Hackberry General Store on Route 66. Lots of old memorabilia and vintage cars to see too, of course. #2h1hz #route66 #👊✊🌎
More of "Kate looking at things," here is the Grand Canyon. #2h1hz
More in my series of "Kate looking at things." Here she is meeting some street art, seeing an old Pueblo cliff village, and searching for a hot springs across a bridge in Colorado. #2h1hz #👊✊🌎
Happy belated birthday to the bigger heart.
