Like you, most of the photos we take just end up taking space on our phones until we get sick of them and delete 100 or so at once. The ones we do use almost always end up on Instagram. That makes sense: Instagram is designed specifically to share photos with little effort.
However, Instagram is geared toward the small screens on our phones. On top of that, there is no easy way to double-tap and get a full-screen shot. Scroll, hit like, keep scrolling. That’s no way to truly appreciate photos.
It’s similar to music. When we spent more time listening to entire albums, we formed a greater appreciation for musicians and bands. Instagram is more like putting your music player on shuffle with all 10,000 songs. Songs come and go like leaves on the wind.
To combat that in our little slice of the world, here are some photos from the past few months that didn’t make it onto Instagram but are still worth a few more seconds viewing time than Instagram likes.. Ah, technology…
These are random and not meant to be a photo essay, but we put some simple captions in case you wanted context, if you mouse over them or click on them. Tablet and laptop/desktop users can click on the image for a pop up window which also has a “view full-size” option. All of them were shot on a Motorola G6 cell phone. Take a look:
